Hi there! My name is Taneen L. Carvell, and I don’t think my initials are a happy accident — they epitomize what I do and how I do it, namely in providing tender loving care mixed in with a bit of tough love and compassion as needed. When I was a kid, our family survived both a flood and house fire in a matter of five years, where we lost cherished possessions and all our furnishings. Those experiences shaped me because I understand both the power of objects and the importance of letting go of things when it’s the right time to do so. Figuring out how items fit in a space — both physically and emotionally — is essential to my work.

My primary purpose isn’t just to organize your things but to conceptualize how an area can be a place of joy and worthy of you and then bring that vision to life.

When you are overwhelmed by life’s demands and trying to remake a space or entering a room for the first time, it’s challenging to have an objective eye and put items in places that make the most sense. It’s nearly impossible to do it alone because you can’t appreciate a new approach to the things you’ve had for years. It does take a special person to work through that with you, and I hope you’ll consider me for the effort.

Some people have asked me, “What’s your aesthetic?” And my answer is: it’s not a question of what my aesthetic is because any space you inhabit should be a reflection of your values and your vision. I’m here to implement workable solutions that create spaces you love.

I not only have a unique spatial sense, but I also have tremendous endurance; in addition to organizing and conceptualizing, I participate and prepare athletes for marathon and Ironman competitions around the globe. I work hard, and I do not languish; once we have agreed on a vision and the values you want to uphold in your space, I get right to work. A client once told me I have the speed and grit of four people. I believe in the highest efficiencies to ensure we use our time wisely; in honoring your space, I am also committed to honoring your time.

How do I do it?

Well, there are two aspects to my work. First, I get in and get busy. I need to dive in and see what is there and allow the space and items to dictate how they need to be organized. From there, I ask you to work through specific items by yourself or with me that need to be prioritized and pared down. The combination allows a reclaiming of the space and respect for all of your cherished – and functional -- possessions. Second, once I’ve understood the space and the items you most want to be there, I set about creating the room’s functionality that will help you keep it that way. My goal is not to make sure it looks picture-worthy but impossible to maintain. My goal is to make it visibly organized and visually inviting so that you are both able and inspired to keep it that way.

While I offer services that involve project managing an entire move or the joy of organizing your home from top to bottom -- I also recommend picking one or two rooms or spaces as a way to start what can be an otherwise overwhelming process. This allows you to get a sense of how we can work together, and I can build your trust so that we can further our efforts effectively.
